Zoocasa

Canada’s “Home Search with Smarts”

Zoocasa’s goal is to provide the best internet real estate search experience for consumers looking for Canadian-based housing by providing value-add contextual information and tools around a listing to empower better purchase decision making. Zoocasa, the first company to be born in the Rogers Ventures program, gave birth to the idea from an opportunity that existed in the marketplace. This idea was to offer audiences more than just simple and uninformative home listings. Zoocasa’s technology zones in on the amenities and offerings outside of the home that every homebuyer needs and wants to know, like schools and neighbourhoods. People searching for a home get a fuller picture of not just the home but of the experience of living there as well.

Butch Langlois

Butch Langlois, President of Zoocasa

Like many entrepreneurs, Zoocasa’s braintrust has found it difficult for Canadians to find the financial support, guidance and resources to succeed in the global technology market. They saw the opportunity to team with Rogers Ventures as the perfect recipe to help bring their product to market.

How did this relationship get off the ground? Glad you asked… It dates back quite some time to the beginning of the dot.com era. Butch Langlois now President of Zoocasa was the VP, Finance for Rogers iMedia. He left in 2000 and ran three startups over the last nine years. He was attracted back into the fold by the potential of the Rogers Ventures program and the more nurturing ecosystem that was emerging.

Zoocasa has learned that one of the most important drivers for any startup is distribution and relationships. They note how startups in Silicon Valley have an incredible support system that provides such means. Rogers Ventures is one of the few organizations that can deliver similar value to Canadian entrepreneurs and help propel the technology innovation industry. Zoocasa seems to have found the perfect partner to bring their innovative idea to the market.

When asked why Rogers Ventures chose Zoocasa, Butch slyly states, “Simple – it’s a great market opportunity.”
